About Us

On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast region leaving a path of utter devastation covering 90,000 square miles. The aftermath is far greater than any one group or organization can handle, and it will take years to recover from it.

Touch Global Crisis Response was born out of response to that disaster, and has been working to help people recover in the New Orleans area ever since the storm struck. This response has led to disaster responses in Peru; Galveston, TX; and Haiti as well.

We are Michael and Terri Sweetland and after being sent by DELTA Ministries International to work for a week with the relief efforts of Faith Bible Church in Slidell, LA, we were touched deeply by the need, the work they were doing and the amazing work of God going on there. We quickly felt that we wanted to help in a significant capacity. God led us to relocate our family to Slidell from Portland, OR, and with the endorsement of our home church, Montavila Baptist, to commit to helping FBC for as long as they need it. We later connected with Touch Global Crisis Response, a partner of FBC’s relief work, and are continuing our work with them.

How you can help

If  you or your church or group are interested in helping with the much needed relief work by sending a team or coming to volunteer for an extended time, please contact Touch Global Crisis Response at 985-893-0218 or email to katrinarelief@efca.org. You can find out more about Crisis Response at www.touchglobal.org/crisisresponse. Thanks,

Michael and Terri
